Sprint has finally officially confirmed the HTC Hero’s launch, ending weeks of rumours. Interestingly, it seems pretty much all of the rumours were correct. The HTC Hero has had a significant makeover, losing its distinctive chin the process. Also, the launch date has also been confirmed as October 11th, with pre-orders starting today.
The press release suggests that the internals of Sprint’s HTC Hero is exactly the same as the current model – the main change is just aesthetics. However, given the major redesign, I’m still not sure why HTC/Sprint just didn’t rename the model.
In terms of price, the HTC Hero will cost $179.99 upfront (pre-tax and after all rebates). This is for a two-year contract costing from $69.99 per month. It will be available via the Sprint website and Best Buy retail stores. Check out some larger snaps of the new handset after the break.
