Sprint has released its latest firmware update over-the-air (OTA). The 1.56.651.2 is basically a maintenance fix that, amongst other things, sorts out the SMS battery drain issue that users were having. The update itself is 3,748,377 bytes in size. It appears that the rollout has gone smoothly, although you’re recommended to reboot your phone twice – once before and once after installation.
Users are reporting that the Sense UI and Peep is running much faster after a phone reboot. The handset also feels much snappier. Apps now have the correct name (& picture) and some users are saying that there is stereo output through headphones (didn’t it have this already?) The memory leak related to Bluetooth is also reportedly fixed. If there are any other major fixes, let us know in the comments below.
Update: Check out the official changelog after the break.

updated last night and it seems good so far. phone is def a bit faster.
BUT now my phone dialer keypad vibrates with every number press. Anyone know anything about this? Very annoying…
All Text Input volume/sounds option are set to off…
My phone is faster too, but what I really noticed, before the updte I had 17mb free of space. It was really slow and giving me out of space warnings. After the update I had 107mb free. Not sure what was removed but I’m glad it was.
Agree with the speed is faster than before
unlikely, battery start to drain again. Anyone know why?
I don’t know about the speed increase as mine seems just as fast as before. no problems there. I am seeing a significant increase in battery life. also like the new “buttons” for mute and speakerphone on the call screen.
i reformatted my phone the other day and for 24 hours my awake time was from 10-15%. when i woke up this morning it was at about 20%, and then i turned the phone off then on again. now it’s at 100% again, and it’s been about an hour since i turned it on.
the camera works better for me, my phone seems a little faster, and i see the mute and speaker touch buttons when i make calls, but i’m afraid i still have a battery drain issue.
does anyone else have the same problem after the firmware update?
