If I was to connect the phone to the usb slot in the holder, rather than the ‘power out’ point would that not allow me to sync the phone with the computer

(Obviously with the correct connection….)
Could even get a cheap nasty USB cable from Fleebay, hack it shorter, resolder, re-shield and re-shrink wrap it to suit….. *rubs chin*

Why not use a short usb cable connected to the side usb port to both sync and charge simultaneously?
