Skyfire 2.0 browser for Android brings quasi Flash support

SkyfireSkyfire has launched v2.0 of its Android browser that brings with it a new “SkyBar” that gives you automatic Flash video streaming. The browser doesn’t actually play Flash natively, it goes through Skyfire’s servers which are then converted to formats that the mobile is happier to stream, such as HTML5.

So if you come across a video with a broken link, all you need to do is open the SkyBar, hit the video button and choose Skyfire’s version. The browser also includes tabbed browsing, multitouch gestures along with integration of social networking services such as Twitter and Facebook amongst others. Skyfire 2.0 is available on the market right now. You can check out a video of this in action after the cut.

in some reason i couldnt find skyfire from market but direct download got the job done.

First impression is pretty good. Seems to be little bit faster than other browsers ie. dolphin.

Thanks for this!
Had been waiting for the release of this ever since going android.
Used to be amazing on my Nokia.

Seems something got lost along the line though… Its slower than stock browser (on Wifi and 3G), clunky scrolling, and I hate the way it handles the video files it finds…

However! It is pretty cool that we actually are able to watch the videos!

Not for me though… I’ll see if its any better for me when out of Beta status, I’ll be tracking this apps progress though.

I ve been playing around with it for few hours and i have to say it looks pretty neat. It’s very very fast and can handle all the pages ive been checking out so far. Switching to tabs is similar to stock browser – tabs are given as thumbnails.

It Sometimes tends to froze for a few moments, just like its gonna crash any second but so good so far. And as hero doesn’t have 2.1, pinch zoom cannot be used, also some problems with playing some flash videos, ie megavideo. And cache cannot be saved on SD, atleast id does not give me that possibility on settings menu.
