Sprint now gives vague ‘Q2’ release for Hero Android 2.1 upgrade

Sprint HeroAfter rumours were dashed that the Sprint HTC Hero would be receiving the Android 2.1 update on 7 May, Sprint has given official word on the update. It has released a short statement via the Sprint community site and twitter that basically says the update is “on track” for a Q2 release. This probably points to a June release in line with the supposed European Hero release.

Sprint also gave a hint of some of the troubles in releasing this update and the subsequent delays incurred. “Sprint had hoped to have this resolved by now”, but exactly what they had hoped to be resolved isn’t made clear. The one positive to come out of this is that they are reiterating a Q2 release, I’d be very surprised that we’ll see further delays given that we are already half way through the quarter. Mark June in your diaries and don’t expect it to come out earlier.

Anyway, although i’m a g2 user, I don’t think all these delays would bring ‘positive experience’.

Anyone who has problems with this phone should file a complaint with their state Attorney Generals Office. My Hero will not receive mms pics or videos. The phone is not working as advertised. More complaints are stronger in numbers. Usually you can file a complaint on your states website.

You cannot believe any of this. Just like a politician.
Anyway by the time they release the upgrade I will have purchased a non HTC product.
