Actually, i have bought this battery a few months ago but for my European flavor HTC Hero and i can say i’m totally happy with the choice i’ve made. After 6 months of use i haven’t noticed any decreased performance. Sure, it’s not cheap but now i’m getting a whole lot more value out of my phone.
Although I am an avid NewsRob user and daily TotalWar player, my Hero still lasts for at least 3 days. Once i did a test to see how much the battery will last if i only used my phone only as a … phone (no internet access). Result: 6 days !!!
The added thickness isn’t too much of a worry… it actually feels more solid when held in hand. However, if you like too much the slimness of your Hero than this battery is the perfect backup.
If I win, I’ll change my name to Max Power (according with my new status with my hero)

I like the handfeel of the slim hero. If they ever release the update, I’ll be downloading JuiceDefender, but in the meantime a bigger battery would be nice…

I tried out another brand of 3rd party battery, only cost £12 / €14, was advertised as 2700mAh I think, but proved to be only slightly higher capacity than the original HTC one.
You gets what you pays for I suppose.
For those people waiting for 2.1, I’ve tried the official Taiwan release from last week, and it’s like I have a new phone – fast, fast, fast. Battery life seems marginally improved.
Waiting for the proper Euro release, and for it to be custom rooted and with A2SD.
