Strange Email Issue

Postby Stevejonesy » Mon Aug 10, 2009 2:24 pm

Hey Guys,

Just noticed today that I have a problem sending out emails from my G2 using the T-Mobile Network - if I connect via Wi-Fi via my router they fly out no problems but when attached to T-Mobile I keep getting an error telling me the sending failed (but not giving any insight into WHY it failed - thanx). Receiving emails is fine. Dunno if this is new as I have sent out emails using it but maybe I was running wi-fi and didn't notice.
Anyone else seeing errors when sending mail over T-Mobile but no problems using wi-fi?

As I type this I notice one email in my outbox has gone but another failed at the same time over T-Mobile - intriguing. Maybe a signal strength issue - time for some more testing ;)

That sounds very strange, can't think why that would be. Is it still happening?

Haven't sent many since and tend to be at home on the wifi at the mo anyway but they did go later on after a few refreshes. Must have been a network issue (probably a weakish signal) that affected the smtp server more than the pop server or maybe my ISP was having problems with the smtp server. Out on the road more next week so I'll have more reason to see how it is.

Tried it again tonight and I am still getting "Unable to send email" error. Strange that they do go eventually.

Any one else using the Hero to access Blueyonder (Virginmedia) POP email? Are you able to send out emails via the T-Mobile network without errors?
I'll be out and about over the weekend so I'll do some testing from different locations and cells on the T-Mobile network and see if it's something endemic to the cell that provides my service at home or a signal issue.

Cheers guys,

Managed to find out the smtp server for T-Mobile and now it'll send over T-Mobiles network fine. Have to change it back though to be able to send email over WiFi but least I can send out when I'm on the move.

Now I'm trying to figure out how/if I can set-up 2 email accounts with just the smtp different - it won't let me past first base as it balks at the fact that the email address is the same. Anyone managed to set-up 2 accounts on the G2 using the same details bar the smtp server?
